Tips
- Use ranges like “2-” to start numbering from page 2 while keeping the first page untouched.
- Watermarks with low opacity (0.1–0.3) stay readable without hiding the content.
- Page numbers use 1-based indexes. The start number controls what appears on the first numbered page.
Set page range, numbering style, and watermark visibility
Use this tool when a PDF needs simple numbering, a visible draft label, a confidential mark, or a custom text watermark before sharing. Numbering and watermark settings can be used together or separately.
Start after the cover page
Use the page range field to apply numbers only to selected pages. For example, 2- starts on page 2 while leaving the cover page untouched. The start number controls the label printed on the first numbered page.
Choose the label format
- 1: compact page numbers for headers or footers.
- 1 / 12: page count labels when readers need total progress.
- Page 1: text labels for formal documents.
Make watermarks readable
For diagonal watermarks such as Draft or Confidential, start with low opacity and a large font size. Adjust color and angle so the mark is clear without covering signatures, form fields, or body text.

FAQ
Can page numbering start after the first page?
Yes. Use the page range and starting number controls to skip cover pages or start numbering from a later page.
Can I use Page X of Y numbering?
Yes. Choose the page number format that includes the total page count when you want labels such as Page 1 of 10.
How should I set a watermark?
Choose the text, position, opacity, and color, then export a short range first if the document is long. Lower opacity is usually easier to read behind document text.
Can I add a diagonal watermark?
Yes. Choose the diagonal placement or set a custom angle, then adjust opacity and color so the watermark is visible without covering the document text.
Are my PDF files uploaded?
