Tips
- Use ranges for custom cuts, or enable “Split every page” for per-page files.
- “Split every N pages” is handy for chapter-sized exports.
- Downloads are generated in your browser, so drafts and confidential documents are not uploaded.
Choose the right split method
Use this tool when you already know which pages should become separate PDFs. It keeps page order inside each output file and creates new files from the selected ranges.
Common split patterns
- Extract one page: enter a single page number such as
7. - Split in half: enter two ranges such as
1-10,11-20. - Chapter packets: enter one range per chapter, for example
1-4,5-12,13-18. - Every page: enable Split every page when each page needs its own PDF.
Prepare the file first
If pages are out of order, organize the PDF before splitting. If the extracted file is still too large, split first and then compress only the pages you plan to send.
What this tool does not infer
It does not read bookmarks or chapter titles automatically. Type the page ranges you want, review the result list, and download the ZIP when the outputs look right.
FAQ
How do I extract just one page?
Enter that page number as a range, such as 5, then run Split PDF. The result is a new PDF containing only that page.
When should I use page ranges instead of “Split every N pages”?
Use page ranges when you know the exact boundaries you want, such as 1-4 and 5-9. Use “Split every N pages” when you want evenly sized chunks without typing each range.
Can it split by bookmarks or chapter titles?
No. The tool splits by page ranges or fixed page counts. Check the source PDF first, then type the chapter page ranges manually.
Should I split before or after compressing?
Split first when you only need to send a few pages. Compress after splitting if the extracted PDF is still too large for email, LMS, or chat upload limits.
Why did I get multiple downloads?
Each split result is exported as its own PDF file. Browsers may prompt several times or save them automatically depending on your download settings.
Are my PDF files uploaded?
No. This tool processes your PDF in your browser. Files are not uploaded to a server while you use the tool.
