Annotate
Tips
- Use highlight to drag a rectangle over text; use Pen for freehand marks.
- Click once with the Text tool to place a short note at that spot.
- Annotations are flattened into the PDF so they show correctly everywhere.
Highlight, draw, and add notes before exporting
Use this tool for quick markup on an existing PDF: highlight a region, draw freehand with the pen, or place a short text note on the current page. The output is a flattened annotated PDF.
Choose the right annotation type
- Highlight: best for marking text or rectangular areas that need review.
- Pen: best for circles, arrows, underlines, and freehand emphasis.
- Text: best for short visible notes such as “check total” or “approved”.
Undo before export
Use Undo and Redo while working on the current page, then move through the pages and review the visible marks. Export only after the preview matches what you want to share.
Flattened output
Highlights, pen marks, and text notes are drawn onto the exported pages. They are designed to display reliably in PDF viewers, but they are not separate editable PDF comment objects after export.

FAQ
Are annotations editable after export?
No. Export creates a flattened PDF, so highlights, pen marks, and text notes become part of the page content in most viewers.
Can I undo a mark before exporting?
Yes. Use Undo and Redo while editing the current page. Review the preview before exporting the final annotated PDF.
Will text notes become searchable?
Text notes are drawn onto the page during export. They may not behave like editable or searchable PDF form text in every viewer.
Are my PDF files uploaded?
No. This tool processes your PDF in your browser. Files are not uploaded to a server while you use the tool.
