- Corrected errors
- Incorrect character entries that you removed before the test ended.
- Uncorrected errors
- Incorrect character entries still present when the test ended.
How WPM is calculated
This test uses the common convention that five characters equal one word. Spaces and punctuation in the displayed text count as characters. A timed test uses its configured duration; finishing the whole prompt early uses the actual elapsed time.
WPM = (final correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ elapsed minutes
Raw WPM and accuracy are shown separately, so correcting a mistake does not erase the earlier incorrect entry.
Compare like with like
Results can differ between typing sites because prompts, punctuation, correction rules, and formulas are not always the same. Compare scores from the same language, mode, duration, keyboard type, and site settings.

FAQ
What does WPM mean?
WPM means words per minute. This test treats five characters as one standard word, which makes results less dependent on the length of individual words.
Can I correct a mistake with Backspace?
Yes. Backspace changes the final text and can turn an uncorrected error into a corrected error. The earlier wrong character still counts as an incorrect entry in the accuracy calculation.
Can I paste text into the test field?
No. Paste and drag-and-drop are disabled in the active test field because the purpose is to measure typing. You may paste into the separate Custom text setup field before starting.
Is my custom text saved or uploaded?
No. Custom text is processed only in your browser and is not included in URLs, personal-best storage, analytics, or copied results.
Why is my score different on another website?
Typing sites may use different passages, punctuation, time rules, error handling, or WPM formulas. Use the same test conditions when comparing results.
Does the test work on phones and tablets?
Yes, but a touch keyboard measures a different skill from a physical keyboard. Compare mobile results with other mobile results under similar conditions.
