tax = net × rate(rounded) andgross = net + tax. - From gross:
net ≈ gross ÷ (1 + rate)with rounding, andtax = gross − net. - Rounding is applied to the tax when starting from net, or to the net when starting from gross.
FAQ
What’s the difference between net and gross?
Net is before VAT. Gross is VAT-inclusive.
I have a VAT-inclusive total — how do I get the net amount?
Net ≈ gross ÷ (1 + rate/100) and VAT = gross − net.
How does rounding work?
If you start from net, VAT is rounded. If you start from gross, net is rounded.
