Where do the exchange rates come from?
You can switch between the European Central Bank’s Frankfurter API and the free Open ER API (open.er-api.com). Both provide HTTPS endpoints with mid-market data. Note that your bank or payment processor may apply its own spread or fees.
What happens if the app is offline or the API fails?
The most recent successful rate is cached locally along with its timestamp. If a live call fails, the cached value is shown and flagged. For mission-critical payments, verify the latest rate with your financial institution.
Why do rates differ from my bank?
We use mid‑market data; your bank may apply a spread or fees. Treat the output as a reference and check your provider’s final rate for transactions.
How often are rates updated?
ECB publishes once daily on business days; Open ER API updates more frequently. The app shows the last successful fetch until a fresh rate is retrieved.
